✦ The Socratic Mode
Augmented maieutics — you ask the questions, the patient finds the answers.
"It is no longer about telling patients what they have. It is about accompanying them as they discover it."
The Socratic Mode is no longer a standalone widget — it is now the second mode of the Brief Therapy widget, accessible via a toggle in the Brief Therapy accordion of the sidebar (or in the full-screen tab).
For more on Brief Therapy and its mode system, see the Brief Therapy documentation.
◈ The Dialogic Approach
The Socratic Mode is a major innovation in CRM-AIO. Instead of a top-down analysis where the AI proposes a diagnosis, the practitioner and patient co-construct the journey through a structured dialogue.
It is a synaptic and experiential exploration.
◈ The Navigation Principle
The process begins with entering the reason for consultation. The AI performs an initial semantic search to identify the most probable concepts, then the dialogue begins.
The 3-Step Structure per Concept
Each concept identified by the system is tested in three stages:
1. The Closed Question
- The system proposes a direct question based on the concept.
- YES: The concept resonates. Move to the next step.
- NO: The concept is set aside. The system proposes the next semantic concept or navigates to a linked synapse.
2. The Deepening
- If the patient answered YES, a more targeted question confirms the concept's relevance.
- YES: The concept is validated and takes its place among the 5 cards of the journey.
- NO: The concept is gently set aside, and exploration continues towards another lead.
3. The Open Question
- Once validated, the practitioner invites the patient to describe a concrete situation.
- The patient's free response is semantically analyzed by the AI to identify the next most relevant concept.
◈ Building the 5 Cards
| Validation Order | Therapeutic Position |
|---|---|
1st concept | To Develop (The Resource) |
2nd concept | Current Blockage |
3rd concept | Unconscious Mechanism |
4th concept | Key to Understanding |
5th concept | Action Advice |
◈ The Intelligence of Resilience
The system is designed to never get stuck:
- Handling "NO" responses: If the patient rejects several leads, the system descends in the semantic ranking to find different angles of approach.
- Synaptic Navigation: The system uses links between neurons (e.g., Abandonment linked to Rejection) to intelligently bounce off the patient's responses.
- Rephrasing: After 3 consecutive "NO" answers to closed questions, the system suggests rephrasing the reason for consultation with different words.
◈ Therapeutic Benefits
| For the Patient | For the Practitioner |
|---|---|
Recognition: They validate their own patterns. | Guide posture: The system manages the structure, you manage the human. |
Ownership: The diagnosis is not "endured", it is discovered. | Rich material: Open responses provide a valuable working base. |
You ask the questions. The patient finds the answers. The AI weaves the thread between the two.
